Reach Camp 2015 20 years strong!

This was our 20th year to provide production for Reach Camp, back then known as Quest Camp. Reach is our oldest client, dating back pre Integrity Lighting days to when CEO/President Steve Nance & VP Pete Dawson owned Joshiah Productions.

Running audio this year for the first time was Daniel Brough, our lead audio engineer.
Pete Dawson had been at the helm for years. With upcoming changes in the company and things being so busy, it was time for him to pass on the reigns.

For the second year our CEO & CFO's son, Carter Nance, was LD for this year's camp. "Handing over our oldest client to my son is an amazing feeling, knowing he can go in and do the job and make the client happy! I am beyond proud of him!" said Steve Nance, CEO.
"One evening after worship, I received a text from the client saying, "Carter is killing it this week during worship!"

By the way, he's only 15 folks!

Arkansas Super Summer 2015

It's always a pleasure to work with Joey Licklider. We met Joey years ago while doing Reach Camps at Ouachita Baptist University. Joey was an assistant tech director for the Jones Performing Arts Center. He has since become the head tech director and designer for JPAC.

We asked Joey to tell us bit about his design for Arkansas Super Summer.

"For this design I had some idea of some things that I wanted to try that I hadn’t done before. I wanted to  put truss visible on stage and decided this time to run them upstage/downstage for a different look. We added Martin Mac101 LED moving lights to these side trusses, then gave a different stage angle for the effects the moving lights were able to do. I also had the help of my assistant, Stephen, who came up with the idea of the curved LED tube array. I also wanted to experiment more with LED tape and find fun ways to use it. The LED tubes in the array are made from clear fluorescent light tube protecters. We took Rosco 111 frost rolls and cut them to 5 inches wide and 8 feet long to put inside the tube to frost and diffuse the LED color from the tape. The LED tape is attached to the outside of the tube with gaff tape to hold in place. The tubes are then zip tied to a hanging wooden frame that gave us the structure to make the curved array. The tubes are able to each be controlled with the use of a few 24-channel led controllers and power supplies. The curved array gave us a lot of neat options for color and intensity chases and effects. There was lots of planning to get the IMAG and lyrics screen in the right place to fit the rear projection beam in the right place under the tubes. The final design and setup gave some really great colors and looks. I was very pleased with the results!"

We love the Cain's Ballroom

We absolutely love working at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa! There is so much history in this venue and it's always a blast working with the Cain's Team!
Above are a few pictures from a fundraiser dinner & auction we recently lit.

Cain's Ballroom is a historic music venue located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, built in 1924 to serve as a garage for W. Tate Brady's automobiles. Madison W. "Daddy" Cain purchased the building in 1930 and named it Cain's Dance Academy, where he charged 10¢ for dance lessons. The academy was the site of The Texas Playboys' first regular radio broadcast, and they continued to play there regularly.
It fell into disuse until 1976 when Larry Schaeffer purchased the building, refurbished it, and reopened it with the current name, Cain's Ballroom. It hosted the Sex Pistols in 1978, and several bands from the Second British Invasion.[citation needed]
Cain’s Dancing Academy was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on September 4, 2003.

LOVE OKC STUDENT CONFERENCE

LOVE OKC STUDENT CONFERENCE DESIGN

We are always excited to to work with the amazing Stephen Kramer and his team at North Church in Oklahoma City. We recently provide gear for Love OKC 2015 and got a chance to visit with Stephen prior to the final night. We asked the Stephen about the vision for this years event. Check out what he had to say about Love OKC.

"The design for LOVE OKC Student Conference started where everything within our organization and church starts, vision.  The whole vision of this conference is to be an example of God’s light to this world through students and their hands.  LOVE OKC Student Conference is the combination of mission work and passionate worship (pouring out love and being filled up with the Holy Spirit)

We always want to start our conference off with a distinct message and vision for the week through an opener.  This year we decided to use a special from our friends at Church On The Move called “There is a Light.” Video

In the planning of the opener, the idea of light “exploding” from a central area kept coming up. Ideas of something that generated the light, ideas of reflecting light, etc.  At that point, the example of a Miranda Lambert’s Concert came up from Bandit Lites Instagram, mirror balls being hit from all directions with spots.  I then had multiple conversations with Steve and Pete at Integrity Lighting regarding equipment needed to pull of this special moment at the beginning of our conference.  One thing that kept coming up was how to spend the budget wisely.  I never want to spend money on fixtures/lights that we are only going to get one use out of in a weeklong conference.  Therefore we came up with a rig of 24 Martin MH3’s to go along with their 48” Mirror Ball, allowing us to get a tight beam for spotting the Mirror ball and also supplying another dimension of beam to our stage set.

The plan the whole time was to light the Mirror ball from all directions, upstage floor, all stage trusses, front side wings, and front wash bar(Thus needing 24 of them).  This made reusing the fixtures for other moments in the experience hard.  So after load in we decided to test some things out.  We set the ball in the middle of our room, put a few of the fixtures on the stage floor and shot them at the ball.  I figured out that if I aimed the beams on the outside of the ball, it would reflect 150° - 170° off the mirror ball.  From there we decided to use all the fixtures behind the mirror ball, allowing us to use the fixtures alongside the rest of our backlit set.  Having the sharpy style/tight beam fixture allowed us to hit the ball without any bleed over, and also allowed use to adjust the look of the beams that were being reflected.  The tighter the fixture, the tighter the reflected beam.

At the end of the conference we wanted to end with a dance party to celebrate all that had happened that week.  Our creative team put together a video of before and after pictures of the house that were painted during the week.  We wanted to create a fun “Club” / “DJ” feel environment with the song “The Nights” by Avicii.  We consulted again with Integrity and landed on the idea of using 4 Antari W715 Fog Jets to simulate the dynamic of CO2 jets, with the combination of the Mirror ball, the Martin MH3’s and the Antari Jets, the Experiences at LOVE OKC Student Conference are still being talked about among our church today."
